Ever since its initial release in 2006, Tenacious D in The Pick of Destiny received the status of a cult film. Many fans enjoy the guitar-related aspects, and it includes, obviously, the star of the film: the pick of destiny itself.

The most common Pick of Destiny guitar pick replica is made by Clayton. That being said, most of the user reviews clearly show that it is more of a prop than a playable pick. Other boutique guitar pick makers produce Pick of Destiny replicas that are playable and even considered high-end guitar picks.

In this article, I’m not going to cover their playability, although, the picks I chose to feature are all made by reputable pick makers, so they should play very well, too. I sorted them alphabetically, so there’s no relation between where I placed them in the article to how good they actually are. So without further ado, let’s go over some of the best replicas of the Pick of Destiny.

Pick of Destiny Replicas

Dasotomic Picks

I got Dasotomic’s version of Pick of Destiny for the review I wrote about them. It was the first time I realized that some of these replicas make quite a good playing pick in their own right.

Dasotomic is making their replica out of Acrylic, which is easy to work with and is very durable. Especially compared to other common materials used for guitar picks. Mine is 4mm thick, which adds a lot to its durability. If you’re not used to thick picks, it requires some getting used to.

There are two main options for you to choose from: regular or glow in the dark.

The Regular Version

The regular version costs $18 and is available in 2 sizes, small and large. The small size is for the 2mm and 2.5mm gauges, and the bigger size is for thicker picks.

The Glow in The Dark Version

This version costs $20 and is available from 6.5mm thick and up. So if you’re not comfortable with thick picks, you might want to use this as a prop or go for the regular version, instead.

Iron Age Accessories

Iron Age Accessories, too, have two versions of the Pick of Destiny. Both are made of Acrylic, and both glow in the dark. I don’t have either of them myself, but I own a few picks they made (and reviewed their Parthenon series here). There’s not a single pick made by Iron Age Accessories that I have and don’t love. So it’s very easy for me to vouch for the quality of their work.

Pick of Destiny V1

The first version is made of a glow in the dark sheet of Acrylic, with black engravings. It’s 2mm thick and will set you back $39. Each of these was handmade in the US.

Pick of Destiny V2

Made by the same team of artisans, the V1 model is made of a 3mm thick Cast Acrylic sheet. In a way, it’s the exact opposite of V1, where the pick itself doesn’t glow, but the engraving does. It’s available in three colors: red, green, and blue.

Knc Picks

Knc Picks are known for the accuracy of its guitar picks, and Pick of Destiny is no exception. They chose to make it out of Walnut and some glow in the dark paint.

Their version comes in a wooden box, consistent with the rest of their line.

The pick itself is 3mm thick. Being made out of Walnut, it gives a warm and mellow tone. Just as much as other picks in their collection, this pick, too, is playable. But the fancy wrapping makes it a perfect gift for any Pick of Destiny fan, especially if they play the guitar, too.

Osiris Accessories

Osiris Accessories has two Pick of Destiny replicas, showing their great attention to detail.

Pick of Destiny v1

The first version is made of dark red Kirinite, engraved with green glow-in-the-dark paint. It’s 3mm thick and costs roughly $22. The material, Kirinite, is a tougher version of Acrylic, increasing its durability while keeping the sound characteristics of Acrylic.

Pick of Destiny v2

This version is made of black Acrylic, engraved with green glow-in-the-dark paint. It’s 2.9mm thick and costs about $16.5. It’s a great deal for such a great-looking piece.
